OCC’s Proposed Rule on Fair Access to Financial Services

Mark Campanale Government Relations Updates, Members Only, NPA News

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the time to submit a post in support of the OCC’s Proposed Rule on “Fair Access to Financial Services”. Many of you not only agreed with the NPA’s official comment letter but related your own experiences with heartfelt statements about how bank discontinuance of pawnbrokers affected your business, employees, and your consumer customers, as well.

The comment period closed at midnight on Monday, January 4, 2021 and the official record reflects 6,739 comments received, so it will take some time for the OCC to ‘digest’ everything. It is not often that we can make our collective voices heard at this level. The NPA will continue our dialogue with the OCC in the hopes we will see this proposed rule adopted.
