The NPA 2020 Legislative Conference Has Been Cancelled Due to COVID-19/Coronavirus Concerns
Southlake, TX – The National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA) has cancelled the NPA Legislative Conference which was scheduled for April 21-22, 2020, in Washington, amid concerns relating to the COVID-19 / Coronavirus pandemic. The NPA leadership understands the anxiety and uncertainty that has resulted from the spread of COVID-19 / Coronavirus and is committed to alleviating those concerns and to help prevent any further transmission.
“This decision doesn’t come lightly and we considered all aspects of the current situation: facts, fears, and perceptions,” said Kerry Rainey, pawnbroker and NPA President. The NPA Legislative Conference is designed to build and reinforce relationships between pawnbrokers, their Members of Congress, and staff. This year’s conference was highly anticipated and scheduled to host over 75 pawnbroker attendees. Mr. Rainey added, “We fully understand that the Legislative Conference cancellation is unprecedented, but your personal well-being, that of your loved ones, and the impact on your businesses will always be our greatest priority.”
Airlines – We understand that the airlines are being generous with their refunds and change-fees policies. I encourage you to reach out directly to your airline for instructions on how to make proper adjustments that are in your best interest.
The NPA will provide further guidance as to the possibility of rescheduling or other options regarding the Legislative Conference as they become available. Pawn Expo 2020, the only national convention and trade show for the pawn industry, is still scheduled for the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino on June 23-25, 2020.
